Vision & Values

Our Theologically rooted vision

Rooted from Corinthians 12:12-26(see below)

Our values

At the heart of our school are a set of core Values. These underpin our whole ethos, curriculum and school life, and aim to ensure our pupils leave St John the Baptist CEVA Primary School as happy, curious, caring and responsible citizens. The values we promote are important within the school community and are values which will be important throughout life. In all that we do we strive to share, encourage and demonstrate positive values with our children, in order that they understand them and strive to live by them.

Corinthians 12:12-26

Just as a body, though one, has many parts, but all its many parts form one body, so it is with Christ. 13 For we were all baptised by one Spirit so as to form one body—whether Jews or Gentiles, slave or free—and we were all given the one Spirit to drink14 Even so the body is not made up of one part but of many.

15 Now if the foot should say, “Because I am not a hand, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 16 And if the ear should say, “Because I am not an eye, I do not belong to the body,” it would not for that reason stop being part of the body. 17 If the whole body were an eye, where would the sense of hearing be? If the whole body were an ear, where would the sense of smell be? 18 But in fact God has placed the parts in the body, every one of them, just as he wanted them to be. 19 If they were all one part, where would the body be? 20 As it is, there are many parts, but one body.

21 The eye cannot say to the hand, “I don’t need you!” And the head cannot say to the feet, “I don’t need you!” 22 On the contrary, those parts of the body that seem to be weaker are indispensable, 23 and the parts that we think are less honourable we treat with special honour. And the parts that are unpresentable are treated with special modesty24 while our presentable parts need no special treatment. But God has put the body together, giving greater honour to the parts that lacked it, 25 so that there should be no division in the body, but that its parts should have equal concern for each other. 26 If one part suffers, every part suffers with it; if one part is honoured, every part rejoices with it.

How our vision is embedded through our school culture

In the bible many people had to show self-motivation when spreading the word of God.

Noah(Genesis 6-9) had to show great self-motivation to save the animals and God told Noah 'I promise not to send another flood to cover the whole earth.' And God made a beautiful rainbow so people would never forget his promise.

Dear God, Thank you for helping me with self-motivation and for keeping your promise to us.

Zacchaeus(Luke 19) turned to Jesus when he had a change of heart to be honest. Jesus thanked him for his honesty and Jesus said that he had become a new man and could now stand tall.

Dear God, help me to be honest and fair.

Imagination is the ability to see what is unseen, this is a spiritual and powerful gift from God. Learning how to use our imagination correctly is vital to any Christian walk. God showed great imagination when creating the world (Genesis 1)

Dear God, help me to use my imagination to diminish the perceptions of obstacles and to strive for excellence!

In the bible (Luke 10) we are reminded that we are all part of the same family regardless of our differences, we are part of God's family. We should help to care for everyone, everything and the world to help us to care for ourselves.

Dear God, help me to love my enemies and see them as my family.

Empathy is the ability to understand and share the feelings of others, and because it is one of Christ’s attributes, it is something we should all strive to better understand, cultivate, and express. Boaz showed great empathy towards Ruth and helped her when she was in need.

Dear God, help us to understand how
others feel and help those who are less fortunate then us.
